Books vs. Films

I am a great lover of books and reading, and I always have been. Books open up your mind and  imagination and  allow your to explore the world in different ways.

As a child I always had a very vivid imagination. From ready things like Harry Potter and Narnia my mind was usually elsewhere in a magical mystical world and that was just the way I liked it. The world was a much better place in my head.

Having children doesn’t leave much time for reading and getting lost in stories very often which is a shame but I really hope that Amelia and Max will have the same love for reading that I do when they’re a bit older.

Now, I only really have time for films. The problem with films is that I’m easily distracted and have my hands free so I’m usually half heartedly watching whilst playing on my phone. I find it pretty hard to get lost in films the way I do books.

Some people are book people, some people are film people.

I think you should always read a book before watching the film/ series version of it. This is mainly just because we have recently been watching Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings and now I’m reading the books I find that I am constantly thinking what should have been happening at that time and can properly visualise it in the film version rather than properly reading the book.

I do love watching films but I definitely prefer reading the books and imagining the stories whilst drifting off to a weird and wonderful world.

Are you a book person or a film person?

  1. Amen! I am so behind on my books though and there are so many that have been made into movies. Making both my lists long, but I won’t watch until I have read them 🙂

  2. Definitely a book person. I often find the film version disappointing although I did love me before you. Thank you for linking up to #ablogginggoodtime 🎉

  3. I always end up reading the books before I watch the films 🙂 I’ve known people who watch the film first, then despise it, and therefore won’t give the books a chance!

  4. I usually want to watch a film because I’ve read the book, it has been the other way round though. I have been disappointed by a film when it isn’t how it imagined it from reading the book. Thanks for linking to #PickNMix

  5. I completely agree with you. I much prefer reading the books before watching the movie. You get so much more detail and character building in books that you don’t get in movies!
