Childhood Dreams

When I was younger I had so many dreams and things that I wanted or wanted to do. I was pretty well off compared to my friends and I’m grateful for all I had but there are a few small things that as a young girl I would have really loved! When deciding on presents and gifts for Amelia I have definitely incorporated these things into Amelia’s childhood.

A dolls house – I never had a dolls house when I was younger so this is the first thing I had to get for Amelia. We found a gorgeous dolls house at a local baby items sale and I’m so in love with it! It’s excellent quality and really big too and already Amelia loves it and loves to play with it.

A nice doll collection – I had some china dolls that sit up on shelves and really wanted Amelia to have some special dolls that really get looked after. These Silvercross dolls I first saw in our local Jojo Maman Bebe shop and thought they were great! For Amelia’s first Christmas I got her the ‘Holly’ doll now cant wait to get the rest.

When iIwas around 14/15 I really got into gymnastics watching it on the Olympics and then basically everywhere I could find it again after that. It quickly became a dream of mine to be able to do all of the awesome flips and jumps. I’m not one of these parents that force their children to do something or live out their dreams through their children but I do really want Amelia toΒ do have a musical hobby and an athletic hobby too. So I will be taking Amelia to gymnastics lessons and if she enjoys it she can carry on and if not we will try something different.

As well as gymnastics I also would like Amelia to take up a ballet class. Again, if she doesn’t enjoy this we will try a different type of dance class. To match the ballet lessons Amelia also has a Cath Kidston ballerina plate, jewellery box and Laura Ashley ballerina bedspread as well as a cute ballerina teddy from her Uncle Harry as a birth gift. It would be a perfect fit if she does love it like I hope she will.

One thing I will be pushing my children to do is to be more athletic and not be inside just playing on electronic games and watching TV like most kids do. I can’t wait to get Amelia all excited about what new sports she can try and what activities there are available out there whilst she’s young and able, and also the same for Max. I really wish I had payed more attention and got more active whilst I was younger.

What were your childhood dreams?

  2. I totally agree with encouraging kids to engage in more athletic activities.
I wish my parents did that when I was a kid. I missed activities like swimming, biking. I caught up with them later but it is not the same
