Welcoming Winter

I’ve read so many posts this coming autumn about the ‘Winter blues’ and how people seem to be very disappointed that Winter is upon us.

Winter is my favourite time of year, is brilliant and so magical. I’m super excited! It’s my all time favourite season and I can’t wait for all of the new memories we will be making this year. The cold is something that doesn’t really bother me, I actually really like it which is probably why it doesn’t bother me like it does some people.

Reasons Winter is awesome..

Christmas – It’s going to be Max’s first Christmas and the first Christmas Amelia is actually going to be slightly more aware about which is all really exciting. I would love it to snow too which will make it so much more special but we don’t usually get any down in Cornwall so I’m happy to just have a really exciting evening on Christmas Eve and be greatful that they’re both too young to come and jump on us all excited at 3am!

Ice Skating – I know there are plenty of places to go ice skating all year round but it’s just so much more exciting in the Winter with the festive atmosphere

Warm Clothes – I love wrapping up warm in big bulky clothes in the Winter. Coats, hats, scarves, boots and gloves are so great to keep you nice and toastie.

Hot Chocolate – We all love a good hot chocolate with some yummy whipped cream and mini marshmallows topped off with a broken up flake. Amelia has never had a hotchololwte before and I know she will love it, and probably make a huge mess, but she’ll still love it!

Roaring Fireplace – Annoyingly we don’t actually have a fire place in our home but it really does make Winter the best when you cancosy up in front of the roaring fire and just drift off. Alternatively if your house is like ours the burning heater smell is almost as good.

Christmas Trees – Most places you go will have a Christmas tree and the fresh pine scent mingling in the air. New baby’s and Christmas trees are the best scents ever.

Dark Evenings – When the evening draw in you know Winter is coming (are we all picturing the gorgeous Jon Snow right now or is that just me??)

Christmas Movies – last year I found a Christmas film called Snowed In At Rosemont. The story line is brilliant with unexpected twists and the lodge is just gorgeous! I really recommend looking up this film on Sky and sitting down with a blanket, some chocolate and a hot drink. And my all time favourite – Elf.

Snow – Snow is awesome. You can have snow ball fights, make snowmen and snow angels and it instantly makes any scene look goregeous.

And that is why Winter is the best

  2. What a lovely post. I wish i loved the winter and i can certainly see the appeal, but i’m a summer girl by heart. It’s just too cold! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday

  3. Peachy’s daddy likes the winter so I’m not a stranger to the concept. I however dislike the cold and detest winter driving. But Christmas is nice and we are really looking forward to it this year because our little one will actually be able to experience it. Last year Peachy was less than a month old and pretty out of it. #bestandworst
